In late 2012 RTI Machine Design worked with Filamat Composites, a Toronto based fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturer to overcome a near term staffing and management challenge. We were approached by the Managing Director to support his organization in areas of product mechanical design, engineering department management and maintenance of existing customer technical relationships. In addition we were tasked to assist with the planning for and hiring of new engineering management and ensuring that sufficient staff was present. The final step in the process was to transition functions back to company employees.

“RTI’s design expertise and CAD competence was a critical factor in the successful design and manufacturing of our product. Bob Ilmonen was very helpful in assessing our original design, working with our own development team to modify that design to be simpler and more efficient, and then worked with us through the manufacturing qualification process to ensure the product could be manufactured effectively and at an appropriate cost. Even while working on other projects, Bob would find time to be attentive to our needs and was always available if we needed to interact on a real-time basis with him. We plan on continuing to use RTI as other opportunities present themselves.”

    - Jim Abrams, CEO, Arribe Manufacturing

For the past two years RTI Machine Design has been working closely with Arribe Fishing to concept and design their debut product in the deep sea reel market. This reel is their first reel design and, as such, is considered a critical launch for the company. RTI Machine Design worked in very close collaboration with Danny Uribe of Arribe Fishing to determine the desired functional specifications and design elements. A product definition was quickly established followed by design sketches and concept drawings. The mechanical design phase of this project lasted five months with an additional twelve months of support through prototype and pre-prodution activities. The design consists of seventy one part models, fourty five detail drawings and five assembly drawings. There were six FEA analyses required. The product is currently set for a late 2013 product launch.

For several months in 2011 and early 2012 we worked closely with Dyverga Energy Inc., a new alternative energy equipment manufacturer, to assist them in developing new technology designed to recover excess waste heat and convert it back into electricity so that it could be reintroduced to the users power grid. This is an exciting and groundbraking technology that we are very proud to be involved with. This technology is currently in its prototyping phase.
